According to the September 5-7 movie attendance rankings (surveyed by Kogyo Tsushinsha) released on September 8, the new film adaptation of the popular anime " Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Yaiba" series, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Infinity Castle Arc Chapter 1: Akaza Returns" (directed by Haruo Tonozaki), based on the popular manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, topped the list for the eighth consecutive week. Over the three-day weekend, it attracted approximately 501,000 viewers and grossed approximately ¥804 million. Cumulative totals have reached 22 million viewers and ¥31.4 billion. This film is the fastest Japanese film to gross ¥10 billion in just eight days and ¥20 billion in just 23 days. It also surpassed the previous record of ¥30 billion, previously held by " Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba no Yaiba the Movie : Mugen Train," which took just 59 days to reach the milestone, achieving the milestone in just 46 days.
Among the films making their debut, "Karada Sagashi THE LAST NIGHT" (directed by Eiichiro Hasumi), the sequel to the hit horror film released in 2022, ranked fourth. It attracted approximately 117,000 viewers and grossed approximately 148 million yen in the three days since its release on September 5th. "Exit 8" (directed by Genki Kawamura), which debuted in second place last week, maintained its second place position, drawing approximately 466,000 viewers and grossing approximately 667 million yen over the three-day weekend. Cumulative totals reached 1.48 million viewers and over 2 billion yen. "National Treasure" (directed by Lee Sang-il), in its 14th week of release, maintained its third place position, drawing approximately 275,000 viewers and grossing approximately 406 million yen over the three-day weekend. Cumulative totals reached approximately 9.46 million viewers and grossed approximately 13.3 billion yen, placing it 30th on the all-time box office rankings.
