It has been revealed that singer Shigeru Matsuzaki will be singing the opening theme "Wanna be" for the TV anime "Higashijima Tojima Tanzaburo wa Kamen Rider ni Naritai," which is based on the manga by Yokusaru Shibata, who is known for works such as "Hachi-One Diver." Matsuzaki will sing the chorus of the opening under the name "TeddyLoid feat. Shigeru Matsuzaki accelerated by TOPHAMHAT-KYO (FAKE TYPE.)." Matsuzaki appeared on TOKYO MX's talk variety show "5ji ni Muchuu!", which aired on September 3rd, and announced the opening information.
In a video of his comments posted on YouTube, Matsuzaki expressed his joy, saying, "Kamen Rider is a treasure of Japan. It's amazing to be involved in it!" He also spoke enthusiastically, saying, "Collaborating with a new composer inspires me. This time it's going to be very stimulating!"
The series began serialization in Monthly Heroes (Heroes, currently out of print) in 2018, and is currently being serialized on the manga distribution site Comiplex (same publisher). The story follows Higashijima Tanzaburou, who at the age of 40 is still serious about becoming Kamen Rider, but just as he is about to give up on his dream, he gets caught up in a fake Shocker robbery that causes a stir in the world. Ishimori Productions and Toei are collaborating.
The anime will be directed by Takahiro Ikezoe and written by Doko Machida. It will be produced by Liden Films. It will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and other channels from October 4th.
