It has been revealed that actors Maeda Kouki and Mizusawa Rintaro will be co-starring in the October drama series "Oishii Divorce Notification" (Chukyo TV/NTV, Wednesday midnight 12:24). This will be Maeda's second consecutive lead role in a drama series, following the currently airing "Kanzen Furin" (NTV, Tuesday midnight 12:24), while Mizusawa will be starring in a terrestrial TV drama for the first time.
Partners both in their personal and professional lives, lawyer Otokita Hajime (Maeda) and detective Iseya Kai (Mizusawa) undertake divorce cases for people suffering from their partner's betrayal. The two struggle to deal with eccentric characters, such as a "vile famous presenter" who, despite his popularity, is constantly attacking junior female announcers, and a "fickle woman" who betrays her same-sex lover and, for some reason, chooses to marry someone of the opposite sex. Eventually, they receive a "divorce request from the dead"... This is a human legal drama. The script is written by Imanishi Yuko and Ito Tatsuya, who also worked on "Sacchan, I Am.", and the film is directed by Kuwashima Kenji, who also worked on "Gurapara!".
Maeda plays Otokita Hajime, a divorce lawyer at the Otokita Law Firm. Once he receives a case, he goes into combat mode and is the type of person who will not hesitate to push the very edge of legal and ethical boundaries. In order to get the results his clients want, he will stop at nothing, and has won numerous divorce cases.
Mizusawa plays Iseya Kai, a detective at the Iseya Detective Agency, and is Umi's partner in both public and private life. Contrary to his refreshing appearance, he is sometimes willing to commit minor crimes in order to carry out his duties. In his private life, he is a reliable person who is very good at all kinds of housework, and he loves the clever and sloppy side of his cohabiting partner, Otokita. He is a "devoted man" who prioritizes Hatsu over himself.
Additionally, it was announced that Risa Masuda, who played the fourth Sui-chan in the NHK Educational TV program for children, "Mie-Tsuketa!", will also be appearing in the film. She will play Anna, a mysterious girl who suddenly appears before the two characters and is a key character in the story.
The drama "Delicious Divorce Notification" will start on October 1st and will be broadcast every Wednesday from 12:24am.
◇Comment from Maeda Kouki
I am very happy to be co-starring in a series that will air on Nippon Television in July. This is an invigorating love and human drama that makes you reconsider what a family is, triggered by a divorce.
After reading the script, I felt that the key to this drama was the word "normal." Because what is "normal" differs from person to person, people end up misunderstanding each other and fighting... The lawyer/detective duo resolves these misunderstandings in surprising ways. As a lawyer, I am currently filming so that I can use the law and my heart to search for the shape of love together with my clients. Please look forward to this delicious drama that will fill your mouth with flavor!
◇Comment from Rintaro Mizusawa
Hello everyone, I'm Mizusawa Rintaro, who plays Iseya Kai. When I heard about the role, I was very happy and felt that it would be a big challenge for me. After reading the script, I realized that it hasn't been that common for a detective and a lawyer to become buddies until now. I find it interesting and cool to see the two of them facing their clients with their own thoughts.
I will be playing the role of Kai Iseya in a sensitive and careful manner within the world of the work, so I hope you will look forward to it.
◇Comment from Risa Masuda
When I heard that I had passed the audition, I was so surprised that I cried out loud, and I was so happy. I want to do my best so that many people can watch the show and come to love it.
This drama is packed with elements that will be enjoyable for those who like lawyers, detectives, and mystery writers, and will also make you feel relaxed while watching.
The highlight is the well-paced conversations! You can also feel the kindness of family and friends, which makes you feel warm inside.
It's broadcast late at night, but you can also watch it online, so I hope you'll watch it as many times as you like.
