A joint press conference for TV Asahi's variety show "Platinum Family" (Tuesdays at 7pm) and the new show "Japan Exploration Academic Variety: Tuesday's Yoshizumi Kotaro" (8pm) which will start on September 16th was recently held at the station (Minato Ward, Tokyo), with cast members Yoshizumi Ishihara, Kotaro Koizumi, Chisako Takashima, and Shingo Fujimori taking to the stage to announce the lineup for "Tuesdays are Platinum Night Special, 3 hours for 4 consecutive weeks."
A three-hour special of "Platinum Family" will be broadcast for four consecutive weeks from September 16th to October 7th. The first day, the 16th, will be a combined special with "Tuesday's Yoshizumi Kotaro," and on the 23rd, Yoshizumi and the other "Four Ishihara Brothers" will be closely followed as they tour their hometown of Zushi, and all four brothers will also be in the studio to talk about the "truth about their family" with their late father, Shintaro, and uncle, Yujiro.
The broadcast on the 30th is a special collaboration with "A Detour Trip by Local Bus" (Sundays at 3:20 pm), in which Agawa Sawako and Takashima, who hit it off after appearing together in a commercial, will get off the train along the way to "places they want to go right now" with Tokumitsu Kazuo, exploring the gourmet food and famous places. In the broadcast on October 7th, Takashima will fly to Paris and London to get a glimpse into the lives of the "Super Platinum Family" who have conquered the world.
Regarding the event on the 23rd, in which all four Ishihara brothers were together, Yoshizumi said, "I was surprised to hear so many things come out of the brothers' mouths that I hadn't known before. At the same time, Kotaro is a distant relative, and Chisako's mother and my mother are "mom friends," so we had a lot of common topics to talk about, which is why I think we were able to reminisce about the image of a Showa-era family."
Koizumi said he felt sympathy for the Ishihara family story, saying, "Thanks to Yoshizumi, I was reminded a lot of my childhood, thinking, 'This is what my family was like at home,' and 'My father was an absolute presence,' (laughs)."
Takashima commented that she was overwhelmed by Shintaro's outrageous stories, saying, "It was a very intense time. It was full of shocks and was very interesting. I realized that Shintaro Ishihara and his family, who survived through the Showa era, are definitely not normal." When Fujimori commented, "What was impressive was that people say that Chisako and Shintaro Ishihara are similar," she admitted, "Compared to Shintaro, what he has accomplished is about one millionth of what he has, but his tyrannical nature is exactly the same (laughs)."
