It was announced on August 31st that the drama series "Love Security 24 Hours Season 2," starring Hikaru Iwamoto of the popular group "Snow Man" and co-starring Mai Shiraishi, will be broadcast in October on TV Asahi's "Friday Night Drama" slot (Fridays at 11:15 PM, excluding some areas).
The drama is a sequel to "24 Hours of Love Guard," which aired in January 2024. In the previous series, the rugged and stoic bodyguard Kitazawa Tatsunosuke (Iwamoto) pursued the truth behind the murder of his father while guarding lawyer Kishimura Rika (Shiraishi) 24 hours a day. With the help of his colleagues, he managed to arrest the real culprit, and the two fell in love and found happiness.
In the sequel, Tatsunosuke's company, RACCO Security, merges with Ko-Ara Security to expand its business. He and his new partner clash at every opportunity and end up getting embroiled in a major incident. Meanwhile, Rinka aims to reach even greater heights as a lawyer and decides to study abroad in London, England. As they each find themselves in new environments, the long distance and eight-hour time difference hinder the love between the three.
Iwamoto shared her thoughts when she heard that there would be a second season, saying, "I never thought there would be a sequel, so I thought, 'Am I going to have to cut my hair again?' (laughs). My hair had grown between seasons 1 and 2, so I knew it would be a problem, but I found myself asking several times, 'Is it really okay to cut it, right...?'"
Regarding long-distance relationships, he replied, "I'm a lonely person, so... I wonder how it will go. It's not romantic, but even if a friend is overseas, I think about how I'd feel if I contacted them in the middle of the night, and I check the local time before contacting them, so I'm considerate. Maybe because of the time difference I tend to be reserved and overthink things, and that makes it difficult for a romantic relationship to work out? But I can't really say until I'm actually in that position!"
She continued, "The previous film was shot in winter, but this time filming will start when it's still hot, and I'm a little sunburned right now, so I'll have to be careful not to get any more sunburned (laughs)."
Shiraishi said about her role, "In this film, Rika goes to study in London, so I communicate with Tatsunosuke a lot over the phone, but I think there are some thoughts and emotions that can only be conveyed over the phone, so I would like to act carefully in that regard, while receiving advice from the director and producers, just like last time."
When asked what she would do if she were in a long-distance relationship, she answered, "I think we would probably keep in touch quite a bit. But I'd probably be happy if I got a reply, and it might actually be a bit of a no-brainer (laughs). It's not like I'd check to see if the other person is alive, but if I could see that they're working hard today, I think I'd be satisfied right away."
She continued, "I hope that viewers will enjoy the drama not only as a love story but also as a work drama, and I look forward to enjoying filming myself."
