Haruka Fukuhara stars in the Fuji TV Getsuku drama "Tomorrow Will Be a Better Day" (Mondays at 9pm). The synopsis and stills from episode 9, which will air on September 1st, have been released.
Tsubasa Natsui (played by Fukuhara) and Sosuke Kurata (played by Hayashi Kento) watch the children at the temporary shelter having fun playing hide-and-seek. Brothers Kanamu Anzai (played by Chiba Sojiro) and Kanade (played by Otokida Saku) jump for joy when Tsubasa tells them that they will soon be able to meet their mother Yumeno (played by Ichika Osaki).
Thirteen-year-old Tachibana Shuka (Hata Sakurako) comes to the Hamase City Child Guidance Center. When Tsubasa attends to her, Shuka pleads with him to "protect me."
Hiiragi lives with her parents and older sister, Sumirei (Konno Momona). She complains to Tsubasa and the others that her parents are violent towards her and ignore her when she talks to them. Although there are no bruises or other injuries found on Hiiragi, the director of the facility, Sakuragi Rijiro (Katsumura Masanobu), decides to temporarily protect her to ensure her safety.
Hiyuka's parents, Sakura (Nishihara Aki) and Osamu (Kaneko Takenori), rushed to the scene and were shocked. They denied the abuse and wanted to meet Hiyuka to clear up the misunderstanding. However, Kurata told them that they could not meet at this stage. When Osamu urged Sakura to go to the hospital, Sakura said that she had an important appointment and left first.
Even in a psychological test conducted by Himawari Makita (Erika Ikuta), no reactions were found in Hiiragi that directly linked to abuse. Kurata also reports that there are inconsistencies in Hiiragi's explanation.
Regardless of whether or not it was abuse, Tsubasa believes it must be some kind of SOS signal, so he goes to the hospital to talk to his sister, Sumirei. He learns that Sumirei is a child with a congenital disorder who has difficulty walking, and that Hiiragi is a "sibling" (a brother or sister of a child who needs support)...
The screenplay was written by Tani Aohito of the theater company Jikan Production, and the story is set in a seaside child consultation center. The heartwarming story follows the protagonist, Natsui Tsubasa (Fukuhara), who is suddenly transferred from the violent crimes division of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police to the child consultation center. As a new child welfare officer, he comes into contact with a variety of children and parents and grows together with them.
