The theme song for the movie "Bomb" (directed by Nagai Satoshi, opening October 31st), starring Yuki Yamada, has been decided to be "I AM HERO," written and composed by Miyamoto Koji, the lead singer of the rock band "Elephant Kashimashi" who also performs solo, and the "lyric movie" was released on August 19th. The memorable lyrics fill the screen, and Miyamoto's powerful singing voice resonates in the hearts of viewers.
The film depicts a battle of wits in an interrogation room between a mysterious bomber and the police, and is based on the best-selling novel "Bomb" (Kodansha) by Wu Shenghao, which ranked first in "This Mystery is Amazing! 2023 Edition" (Takarajimasha) and other publications.
A mysterious middle-aged man is taken into custody after assaulting a store clerk in a drunken rage. The man, calling himself "Suzuki Tagosaku" (played by Sato Jiro), claims to have psychic powers and warns of the presence of bombs planted in Tokyo. He warns that, starting with the explosion in Akihabara, three more will detonate every hour. While dodging the questions of the negotiator, Ruike (played by Yamada), and the other detectives, he gradually begins to ask mysterious "quizzes" about the bombs.
Miyamoto, who met with director Nagai in April this year and heard about the film's theme, said, "I think one of the major themes (of the film) is 'your true voice.' This is a terrifying theme that we cannot avoid in our lives, and it is also a problem that will never be resolved. I put all my energy into putting my own interpretation of that into this song, 'I AM HERO.'"
After hearing the theme song, lead actor Yamada commented, "The moment I heard that Miyamoto would be in charge of the theme song, I intuitively thought of Tagosaku's face. However, when I actually heard the repeated lyrics, "I AM HERO" and "I AM HERO," it seemed to overlap with the image of Ruike encouraging himself and standing up to a cruel, hopeless world. It's a song that gives you a push when you feel like giving up, and it's a theme song that contains a powerful message that will make the movie "Bomb" explode."
