Actor Mone Kamishiraishi appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) broadcast on July 25th. She talked about her life in London during her time starring in the play "Spirited Away" which was performed in London last year.
Speaking about her time in London, Kamishiraishi said, "It was a very fulfilling experience. The theater where we were performing was in the theater district, so it was like there was another production going on just a minute's walk away. On days when there were only evening performances, I'd watch another play in the afternoon, run to my own theater, and then perform in the evening. I lived a life with a fast cycle of input and output. It was interesting."
He said that admission to art galleries and museums was free, so "I went to a lot of them," and that he missed Japanese food, so he brought a small rice cooker with him to London, "cooking rice and grilling salmon for myself."
During this period, her parents from Kagoshima came to London. "I was really happy, saying I never thought they'd bring me, but just as they arrived, I got really sick and ended up having to make them take care of me. I don't know if I was being filial or not," she said with a wry smile.
