The manga "Idoltory", written by Shin Ohtaka and illustrated by Homare, began serialization in issue 33 of "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), released on July 16th. It appeared in color on the opening page and was introduced with the message, "All for the sake of your 'oshi', aim to become a top idol! The girls' battle (audition) begins now!"
The story depicts the "oshikatsu" of a high school girl who is an idol otaku and puts her life on the line. High school girl Himi Junna's purpose in life is to support the idol Tsukishiro Fuwari, but one day, the idol group Fuwari belongs to suddenly disbands. In the midst of her despair, Junna learns that Fuwari will be taking part in a new idol audition program, and decides to take part in the audition herself and work behind the scenes to lead her idol to the top... This is the story.
Otaka commented, "I would be happy if I could share with you all the things I like, Tsukishiro Fuwari-chan, the only light in this world. I will do my best to make it enjoyable!" Homare said, "I will put effort into interviewing idols on the spot so that I can express the world of the original author, Otaka-san! I want to draw everyone cutely! I will give it to you!!"
