The drama is based on the manga " The 19th medical record Tokushige's Questioning" by Katsuhito Fujiya, and depicts a general practitioner who lends a helping hand to patients' lifestyles. This is Matsumoto's first time playing a doctor, and the show also stars Fuka Koshiba and Mackenyu. The script is written by Aya Tsubota, who has worked on the "Kounodori" series (same channel).
Matsumoto plays Tokushige, a doctor in the newly established "General Medicine Department" at Uotora General Hospital. He faces his patients with careful questioning and listens to them thoroughly. He is a character with calm, easy-going eyes behind his glasses.
In the first episode, Tokushige calmly confronted a female patient, Momo Kuroiwa (Riisa Naka), who was suffering from pain all over her body but was at her wit's end because she didn't know the cause.
When Momo came to the "General Medical Department," Tokushige spoke in a relaxed and gentle tone to her, saying, "It seems like it's been a long and difficult process. Isn't it dazzling? There are no curtains in this room yet. But the sunlight is a little softer today than yesterday." Momo revealed that she works late, saying, "I never go out at this time."
Tokushige recommended that Momo be hospitalized, explaining, "I don't know (if she's sick). I understand that we don't know for sure. So, there are some tests I want to do."
However, Momo replied, "I can't take time off from work when we don't even know if I'm sick. It's not a big deal, and if they think that's enough, I can't work with you all anymore."
Tokushige offered Momo words of sympathy, saying, "It's not just that. You're in pain, and it's actually interfering with your life. I think that's a big deal."
In the end, it was discovered that Momo had a difficult-to-detect disease called fibromyalgia. When Momo found out that it was an official disease, she cried tears of joy, and Tokushige replied with a smile.
On social media, comments included, "Jun Matsumoto is good too. This kind of nonchalant role really suits him," "Matsujun really suits slightly unusual roles," "Matsujun is great as Tokushige Sensei!", "Matsujunmaru suits glasses so well," and "Matsujun is so cute with glasses."
