It has been announced that the TV anime "Chibi Maruko-chan" (Fuji TV, Sunday 6pm), based on the popular manga by Momoko Sakura, will air the episode "Maruko Stays at the Library at Night" on July 20th. In this episode, Maruko stays at the library at night and has a mysterious experience, where she enjoys a tea party with Anne and Diana from "Anne of Green Gables", and meets Marco, a boy who has traveled far away in search of his mother.
It was also announced that Rina Hidaka will be the voice actress for Anne in the episode. Hidaka played Anne in the 26th installment of the "World Masterpiece Theater" series, "Hello Anne: Before Green Gables," which aired in 2009.
"Maruko Stays at the Library at Night" is an episode set during summer vacation. Even though it's summer vacation, Maruko has no plans to go out and is sulking when her mother brings her a flyer. When she looks at it, she sees that it's a special summer vacation event that asks, "Why don't you try staying at the library at night?" and Maruko decides to participate with Tama-chan and her classmates. Maruko and her friends are excited to see that the library is different from usual. They each choose a book and read as much as they want, and before they know it, it's time to turn off the lights. In the dimly lit library with only the lamps on, a rabbit wearing a tuxedo and holding a silver watch appears in front of the excited Maruko and her friends, wrapped in sleeping bags...
