"Drama 1 Week" introduces the main drama news of the week. On July 2nd, it was revealed that DREAMS COME TRUE (hereafter referred to as Dorikamu) will be performing the theme song for the TV drama series " The Great Chase: Metropolitan Police Department SSBC Violent Crimes Unit" (TV Asahi, Wednesdays at 9pm). Dorikamu, who have produced hit songs such as "Haretara Iine," "LOVE LOVE LOVE," and "Nandodemo," have written a new song titled "BEACON." This is the first time in about five years that Dorikamu has written a theme song for a terrestrial TV drama since "YES AND NO" for "Unsung Cinderella: Hospital Pharmacist's Prescription" (Fuji TV), which aired in 2020. The drama will start on July Getsuku.
On the 2nd, a relationship chart summarizing the previous works in the series "Broadcasting Station Occupy" (Nippon TV, Saturday 9pm, 10 minutes extended for the first episode) starring Sakurai Sho was released, along with a timeline of the incidents. The drama is the third in the "Occupation Series" in which Sakurai plays the hot-blooded detective Musashi Saburo, following "Large Hospital Occupation" (2023) and "New Airport Occupation" (2024). One year after the airport occupation incident, Musashi, who has been seconded to the Metropolitan Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division "BCCT", is now involved in a broadcasting station occupation incident and investigates with new colleagues. The drama will start on July 12th.
On the 2nd, Nakamura Anne appeared at a press conference in Tokyo for the drama series "Good evening, this is the Asayama family" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sunday 10:15pm *First episode at 10:30pm) with co-star Ozawa Yukiyoshi and other main cast members. Nakamura, who plays the "wife who loses her temper" to Ozawa's "useless husband," said with a smile, "At first I wondered if I could swear, but it felt good and it's become a pleasure every day. I wish I could let that side of myself out more." Furthermore, she thanked Ozawa for her acting of losing her temper, saying, "Ozawa's uselessness as Kenta makes me do it."
Also appearing at the press conference for "Good evening, this is the Asayama family," were screenwriter Adachi Shin and his wife Akiko. Shin said that he has long felt sympathy for Ozawa, who plays the role of a model himself, and said, "It's embarrassing to say it myself, but I think that both Ozawa and I have a 'disappointing side that doesn't look disappointing.' I've always had a vague feeling that he has something like me." Akiko then retorted, "That's not true!" She then revealed, "I was always whining, 'I'm not a disappointing man,'" leaving Shin flustered.
On the 3rd, the cast of the drama series "W 1972: Fireflies of the Sea" (WOWOW), starring Issei Takahashi, was announced, revealing that Aoki Munetaka, Shirota Yu and others will appear. The drama is set in 1972, when Okinawa is undergoing the yen-dollar exchange before its return to the mainland. A cash transport vehicle collecting dollar bills is attacked and $1 million is stolen, and the Ryukyu Police assembles a special investigation team with Maeda Taichi (Takahashi) as the team leader, but... Aoki plays Yonaha Kiyotoku, a member of the Ryukyu Police Special Task Force to which Maeda belongs, and the team leader of the First Investigation Division, who is a high school classmate of Maeda but considers him a rival. Shirota plays Jack Shinsuke Ikezawa, a captain in the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), who exchanges investigative information with Maeda between Japan and the U.S.
On the 4th, it was announced that Yazawa will be performing the theme song for the drama series "The Last Appraiser" (Fuji TV, Wednesdays at 10pm), starring Fujiki. This will be the first time Yazawa has performed a theme song for a drama series in 28 years, since "Best Partner" (TBS, 1997). Yazawa's new song "Truth", the drama's theme song, will be unveiled for the first time in the first episode, which will be broadcast on Getsuku. It is a slow and gentle ballad, with lyrics expressing the transience of love and sprinkled with the drama's keywords of "lies" and "truth", creating a worldview that is in line with the work.
On the 4th, a preview of the 15th week of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan" (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8am and others), starring Imada, was released, and the appearance of Toda, who is the voice actor of Anpanman in the popular anime "Soreike! Anpanman" (Nippon TV), became a hot topic. The subtitle of the 15th week is "Let's go! Tokyo" and it will start on July 7th. The preview also shows Toda's character Maki Tetsuko playing mahjong, shouting "Tsumo! Double the parent!".
