Takeshi Tsuruno"Tetsuko's Room" June 30th broadcast episode: His wife's reaction when he said he wanted to have five children

Actor Takeshi Tsuruno appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) broadcast on June 30th. He talked about raising his five children.

As he had four siblings, he wanted to have five children, and when he told his wife, she replied, "Huh?" "But before I knew it, we had five, thanks to you," he said, laughing. His eldest son is 21, his eldest daughter is 19, his second daughter is 17, his third daughter is 15, and his second son is 9. His children's names start with the Japanese alphabet: "Aya, Iro, Uta, Eito, Oto."

He celebrated his eldest son's coming of age when he returned to Japan from Canada, where he had studied abroad. "When I was 20, my father took me to a sushi restaurant, and then to his favorite bar," he said, revealing an episode in which the father got drunk, perhaps because he was happy, and had to take care of him while carrying him home. He took his son to a sushi restaurant and then to a bar, but then the son got drunk, so he took care of him and carried him home. "In the end, I ended up taking care of both the father and son on the way home, so I guess I was just a heavy drinker," he recalled.

The second daughter graduated from high school in Canada and returned to Japan to attend university in Japan. She was in Canada for six years, but she has completely adapted to the culture and made many friends. Just when he thought he had five children, his eldest daughter, 19, is going to Malaysia. The third daughter is in her first year of high school. She doesn't seem interested in going abroad. "She likes studying and is always at her desk from morning to night, so I end up worrying about her," he says with a fatherly face.

He said that he felt that his four older children had grown up in the blink of an eye, and that as a parent he had many regrets about not being able to be more considerate with them. He wants to be more considerate with his second son, who is in the third grade of elementary school, and takes him fishing, surfing, and camping. "Even though they were born to the same parents," he said, smiling, "Each of the five of them has their own unique character."

As the song was a cover of "M" by the girls' band Princess Princess, Kuroyanagi requested, "Can you sing a bit?" He was surprised and performed one verse, saying, "Here? Suddenly? That's an incredible request." When Kuroyanagi asked him if the song was dedicated to his wife, he laughed and said, "When I think about it, my wife is Miki, so it's M. I just realized. But it's a break-up song."
