The "Great Joy Anime Presentation" event for the "completely new anime" of Rumiko Takahashi 's hit manga "Ranma 1/2" was held on June 22nd at Shinjuku Wald 9 (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo). The first season of the "completely new anime" was broadcast from October to December 2024. "Ranma 1/2" was broadcast as a TV anime from 1989 to 1992, and this is the first time it has been made into a TV anime in about 32 years. It is also a hot topic that the voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi , who plays Ranma Saotome , Hayashibara Megumi Hayashibara, who plays Ranma, Akane Tendo Noriko Hidaka, who plays Tendo Akane, and Rei Sakuma, who plays Shampoo, are reprising their roles. Yamaguchi, Hayashibara, Hidaka, and Sakuma gathered at the event. As a surprise, Toshihiko Seki, the new cast member for the second season who plays Mousse, also took to the stage, which elicited loud cheers.
At the event, it was announced that the second season will begin airing on Nippon Television and other channels in October, and that Seki will appear as Moose, Nazuka Kaori as Kuonji Ukyo, Inoue Kazuhiko as Happosai, Mayama Ako as Colon, and Akira Ishida as Gosukugi Hikaru.

The series was serialized in the manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan) from 1987 to 1996 by Takahashi, who is also known for works such as Urusei Yatsura Genma and Maison Maison Ikkoku. It depicts the hectic daily life of high school martial artist Ranma Saotome, who turns into a woman when splashed with water, and his Akane Tendo .
