Fuji TV's variety show "BABA-less Weakest King Championship 2025 Summer" will be broadcast on the "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturday 9:00 p.m.) on June 21. Famous people from various fields will engage in a fierce psychological battle to escape the dishonorable title of "Weakest King."
Since the first contest was held in 2012, this has become an annual New Year event for the station, with a summer program also scheduled. The participants in this year's BABA competition are the show's hosts Aiba Masaki and actor Kazuki Enari, as well as Hayato Isomura , Kazuya Ohashi from the popular group " Naniwa Danshi ," Kawashima Akira from the comedy duo "Kirin," Sakura from the girl group "LE SSERAFIM," singer Tendo Yoshimi, actor Masami Nagasawa, and comedian Hikorohi, making up a total of 22 people.
The first match was between Nagasawa, who is participating for the first time in eight years, and first-time participants Tamamori Yuta and Hikorohee of Kis-My-Ft2, as well as actor Fujiki Naoto. The third match was a heavy-hitting battle like a movie. It featured Watabe Atsuro, who plays the hospital director Tamon Makoto, the former boss of Wakana Matsumoto Shura, played by Atsuro Watabe Wakana in "Dr. Ashura," and Yanagiba Toshiro, who appeared in last year's films "Muroi Shinji: The Unconquerable" and "Muroi Shinji: The One Who Lives," and is scheduled to appear in "Bayside Shakedown NEW" in 2026.
The fourth match, featuring the program's host Enari, Ohashi, actor Wakana Matsumoto, and Tendo, was the polar opposite of this serious battle. Ohashi, appearing for the first time, was excited to face the match, saying, "I can't believe I can play Old Maid with such amazing people..." Then, Tendo, a big name in the enka world who rarely appears on variety shows, toyed with Enari.
Aiba's fifth match will feature Ryusei Fujii from the popular group WEST. and former NBA player Yuta Watanabe, who is currently playing for the Chiba Jets.
