One day, Iwao (Hamao Noritaka) is shot by a local boy, Rin (Shibuya Sorajiku), whom he loved like his own child, and dies. Yagi (Tsumabuki Satoshi Tsumabuki) explodes with anger that he has no outlet for. Eventually, the food shortage reaches its limit, and Taka collapses to the ground...
Meanwhile, Nobu (Imada) receives a letter from Jiro (Ayumu Nakajima). Nobu is relieved to be reunited with Jiro at the naval hospital, but Jiro has lung problems. The war situation becomes even more severe, and air raid sirens sound in the town of Kochi...
