On June 11th, it was announced that "Samurai Troopers: Armored Troopers", a sequel to the "Samurai Troopers: Armored Troopers" series, which aired as a TV anime from April 1988 to March 1989, will be produced and broadcast as a TV anime in January 2026. This will be the first new anime in about 35 years since the 1991 OVA (original video animation) "Samurai Troopers: Armored Troopers: Message", and the first time a TV anime series will be broadcast in about 37 years.
The completely original story is set in present-day Shinjuku, and will be directed by Yoichi Fujita (Gintama, Mr. Osomatsu, etc.), with series composition and scriptwriting by Shogo Muto (Kamen Rider Build, Crows Zero, Thermae Romae, etc.) and produced by SUNRISE Studios.
Murota Yuhei, known for "Love Live!", "Love Live! Sunshine!!" and "Alya-san, the Girl Next Door Who Sometimes Whispers in Russian", is the main character designer, while Okamoto Hideo, who also participated in "Armored Troopers", is in charge of the original Armor Gear design. Ishibashi Hiyori, known for "Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens", will be the voice actor for the main character, Gai/Scorching Hot Gai. It was also announced that a plastic model will be released by BANDAI SPIRITS.
The announcement was made at the anniversary screening of "Samurai Troopers" held in Tokyo on June 11th. A special Teaser trailer showing the back of a Samurai Trooper wearing his Yoroi Gear.
Ishibashi, who plays Kai, said, "I'm Ishibashi Hiaya, and I play the main character Kai in 'Samurai Troopers'! Kai is a wild and extremely energetic character. I will put my heart and soul into breathing life into him so that I don't fall short of Kai's spirit! There will be a host of unique characters and surprising story developments! Please look forward to the new story of Samurai Troopers!"

"Samurai Troopers" is an anime produced by Sunrise, depicting five boys who possess "Yoroigia" (armor armor), who are led by fate to come together and fight against the army of demons led by the demon emperor Arago. The TV anime aired from April 1988 to March 1989, and due to its popularity an OVA was also produced. "Samurai Troopers Gaiden" was released in 1989, "Samurai Troopers: Legend of the Emperor" from 1989 to 1990), and "Samurai Troopers: Message" in 1991. A comic book adaptation by Hoshino Ryuichi was serialized in "Comic Bonbon" (Kodansha).
