Kusakichi chased after Taka on his bicycle as he headed to the station, laughing and saying, "Hey, you look depressed," and "Shall we go to the tracks again?" Taka quoted the words of the late Hiroshi (Yutaka Takenouchi), and replied, "It's okay. Next to despair is hope." Kusakichi then replied, "Real despair isn't like this." When Taka asked, "Huh?" Kusakichi tried to sound cheerful and said, "But life still goes on. Keep walking. Next to despair... maybe it's the second street of despair."
In the 29th episode (broadcast on May 8), Kusakichi also spoke about war, saying, "Whether we win or lose, soldiers die like insects." On social media, comments included, "I'm shaking at the depths of Yamu's darkness..." "That's a very scary statement," "Yamu has seen true despair in the past," "The light and shadow of Uncle Yamu," "What kind of life has he lived," and "I'm curious about his past."
