NHK's documentary program "Document 72 Hours" (General TV, Friday 10pm) is set on May 23rd at Nozokizaka, a steep hill in Toshima Ward, Tokyo. It depicts the start of a new life in April, when people spend three days gazing down the hill covered in falling cherry blossoms...
Looking up, it looks just like a wall. "Nozokizaka" is said to be so steep that you can't see the bottom unless you peer down, hence the name.
Many different people pass by on this single slope. There are people who work until the last train, children who take this road to school, and even people who are doing exercise...
The program is a documentary program that sets up a camera at one location each time and observes the various human dramas that occur there for 72 hours. It listens to the stories of people who meet by chance and captures the "present" era.
