To commemorate the release of the latest live-action film, " Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe: At a Confessional " (directed by Watanabe Kazutaka), based on the spin-off of Hirohiko Araki's popular manga series "JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe Adventure," on May 23rd, a giant Heaven's Door-shaped peel-off advertisement has appeared in the basement of Shinjuku, Tokyo. There are a large number of sticky notes imitating Kishibe Rohan's Stand, Heaven's Door, which can be peeled off and taken home. The advertisement will be appearing on the B-side of the Shinjuku Metro Super Premium Set at Shinjuku Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, and will end once all the stickers have been sold out.
" Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe" is a suspense horror story about manga artist Rohan Kishibe, who has the ability to turn people into books and "read" their memories, personalities, etc., as he encounters strange incidents and mysterious phenomena. The live-action version, starring actor Issei Takahashi, aired the first season of the drama in December 2020, with the second season in 2021 and the third season in 2022. The first live-action film, "Rohan Kishibe Goes to the Louvre," was released in 2023, and the latest in the drama series, "Poaching Seashore," aired in May 2024.
"At a Confessional" is based on an episode that is extremely popular among fans. When Rohan visits a "At a Confessional" in a church in Venice during a research trip, a man appears to make a "confession." Driven by curiosity and the belief that "experience creates reality in the work," Rohan disguises himself as a priest and listens to the man's "confession," and the man begins to talk about a horrific event that happened 25 years ago... and so the story unfolds. This is the first Japanese film to be shot entirely on location in Venice, Italy.
