It has been announced that the "Sukeban Deka Festival in Goodbye Marunouchi Toei" event will be held on June 7th. The event will screen the first season of the TV series and the two movies of "Sukeban Deka" (Fuji TV), a smash hit drama from the 1980s, all on the same day, and will also feature a stage greeting by Saito Yuki, who played the original Asamiya Saki, Minamino Yoko, who played the second, and Asaka Yui, who played the third.
"Sukeban Deka" is based on a manga serialized by Shinji Wada in "Hana to Yume" (Hakusensha) from 1976 to 1982. After the serialization ended, the first season of the TV series, "Sukeban Deka," aired from April to October 1985, and was well-received for its unique atmosphere, such as the contrast between Saito's appearance and the character, and the style reminiscent of a special effects hero, making it an instant hit. Continuing that popularity, the second season, "Sukeban Deka II: Shojo Tetsukamen Densetsu," starring Minamino, aired from November 1985 to October 1986. The third season, "Sukeban Deka III: Shojo Ninpocho Densetsu," featuring Asaka and the three Kazama sisters, aired from October 1986 to October 1987.
Its popularity was not limited to television; a sequel to "II," the film "Sukeban Deka," was released in 1987, and a theatrical version of "III," "Sukeban Deka: Kazama Sisters Strike Back," was released in 1988. These films made a name for themselves as representative school action films in Japan.
The event will be held at Marunouchi TOEI (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) from 1pm on June 7th, and will screen four episodes (1, 2, 16, and 24) from the first season of the TV series, as well as the films "Sukeban Deka" and "Sukeban Deka: Kazama Sisters' Counterattack." In between, the three actresses who played the role of "Asamiya Saki" will take to the stage to greet the audience. This will be the first time that Saito, Minamino, and Asaka will appear together at a screening event related to "Sukeban Deka." Tickets cost 5,500 yen.
