Morita, who has appeared in popular works such as the NHK morning drama "The Tiger and Her Wings" and her performance as the heroine Kuroki Kaori in the drama series "The Naked Director" has been a hot topic, and this will be her first time playing a newspaper reporter.
Morita plays Yozawa Ichika, a newspaper reporter who plays an important role in delivering the diary of Kuki Sadaichi, who was supposed to have died in the war, to the Kuki family. She says, "Even though I feel fear (at the mysterious events that occur in this film), I wonder where Yozawa gets the strength to keep going. I spent my days thinking about why he became a reporter and why he wants to share this article with the world, searching one by one for the source of his passionate feelings."
The film is a mystery horror story in which one day, the protagonist, Yuji Kuki, receives a mysterious diary written by his grandfather's brother, Sadaichi, who was supposed to have died in the war, and mysterious events begin to occur around Yuji and his wife, Yuriko. Koshi Mizukami plays Yuji and Mizuki Yamashita plays his wife, Yuriko.
Morita commented on her co-stars Mizukami and Yamashita, "Both of them have a very calm aura, and I was able to act with a comfortable distance between us." She continued, "(Mizukami) wasn't just focusing on her own role, she was also looking at the film objectively and acting accordingly. I relied on her a lot and she helped me out a lot." She also said, "I'm not good with horror, and even during filming I was feeling scared, but (Yamashita) talked to me a lot with a gentle smile. Talking to Yamashita cleansed my soul."
It was also announced that Yudai Toyoda will play Satoko's younger brother, Takita Ryo, Asou Yumi will play Yuji's mother, Kuki Nobuko, and Yoshizawa Takeshi will play Yuji's grandfather, Kukiyasu.
