The drama series "PJ ~ Aviation Rescue Wing ~" starring Seiyo Uchino(TV Asahi, Thursdays 9pm) will begin on April 24th. The script is by Takahashi Izumi. The story is set in the Air Self-Defense Force Aviation Rescue Wing, commonly known as PJ (Pararescue Jumpers), an elite rescue unit known as the "last stronghold for saving lives." The series follows trainees aiming to become PJ members as they go through rigorous training under the strict and unconventional chief instructor Usami Seiji (Uchino). The series is being given full cooperation from the Air Self-Defense Force. The first episode will be six minutes longer.
The trainee roles will be played by Fuju Kamio, Anna Ishii, Kentaro Maeda, Aoto Watanabe, Ae! group's Kusama Richard Keita, Atsuhiro Inukai, and Maeda Oshiro. The rescue training team instructors will be played by Hamada Gaku, Hidekazu Mashima, Timon D's Takagishi Hiroyuki, Shishido Kai, and the rescue training team pilots will be played by Hasegawa Asahi and Nomura Masumi. Usami's ex-wife will be played by Kyoka Suzuki, and his daughter will be played by Yoshikawa Ai.
The story of the first episode is as follows: Seven trainees who passed the extremely difficult exam arrive at the Komaki Air Base of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, aiming to become rescuers of the Aviation Rescue Group, an expert unit for saving lives. As the seven are listening to the training unit leader Horikoshi (played by Shishido)'s lecture with nervous expressions on their faces, they suddenly hear the sound of a helicopter approaching. When they look up at the sky, they see the chief instructor Usami (played by Uchino) descending from a rescue helicopter UH-60J.
A year of hellish training begins under the unconventional and passionate Usami. Each of the seven members has a secret desire in their hearts and is determined to become a project leader. One of them, Sawai (Kamio), was lost in the mountains with his father when he was a child and was rescued by an air rescue team. However, his father was not saved and he felt guilty that he had caused his mother pain.
Sawai is so serious about wanting to be the man who can save his father that time that he rebels against the unconventional training that Usami imposes on him. Sawai, who keeps his heart closed even among the trainees, one day confesses his feelings to Usami, but his reaction is unexpected...
