It has been announced that a new live music project called "DEEP DIVE: online - GHOST IN THE SHELL-" has been launched on the official YouTube channel of the popular manga and anime "Ghost in the Shell".
The project is a spin-off from the music event "DEEP DIVE in sync with GHOST IN THE SHELL" held last May, and the band "WONK" will be the first artist to appear, with the video premiering on the channel at 9pm on April 19th. A teaser video was also released of "WONK" performing against the backdrop of a city night view and footage from "Ghost in the Shell".
"Ghost in the Shell" is a science fiction manga that began serialization in 1989 in the "Young Magazine Pirate Edition," a supplement to the manga magazine "Young Magazine" (Kodansha). It depicts the offensive unit "Ghost in the Shell," led by Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body prosthetic (cyborg) with exceptional abilities in cyber warfare and combat, as they take on increasingly sophisticated and complicated violent crimes.
In addition to the animated feature films "Ghost in the Shell" and "Innocence" directed by Mamoru Oshii, "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (SAC)", "Ghost in the Shell: Arise" and "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045" have also been produced. A live-action Hollywood film version starring Scarlett Johansson released in 2017 also became a hot topic. A new TV anime series "Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell" will be broadcast in 2026.
