Singer Misato Watanabe will make her first appearance on NHK's music program "SONGS" (NHK General, 10 PM) on June 18th. She will perform with Tetsuya Komuro, who composed her biggest hit song "My Revolution," and her big fan, Tomomitsu Yamaguchi, will also make an appearance.
Komuro participated in Watanabe's studio singing session by playing the piano, and also appeared in the talk segment, marking his first collaboration with Yo Oizumi. Among the valuable anecdotes from the time of production, he revealed the unconventional thinking that Komuro came up with when he was young, explaining "how the melody right before the chorus came about." Oizumi revealed that "My Revolution" was the first CD he ever bought, and shared a poignant anecdote about his older brother from his elementary school days.
Yamaguchi reminisces with Watanabe about his Seibu Stadium concerts, which were his life's work. Yamaguchi is thrilled by the legendary footage, including the concert during a torrential downpour when 23-year-old Watanabe shouted, "Rain, you idiots!"
In addition to "My Revolution," Watanabe will perform three other songs: "Summertime Blues," which was created for the Seibu Stadium live performance, and "10 years," which she wrote to mark 10 years since she decided to become a singer.
