It has been announced that the "Top Gun Maverick Cinema Concert," a screening of the hit movie starring Tom Cruise accompanied by a live orchestra performance, will be held at Tokyo International Forum Hall A (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) on August 14th. This will be the first time that the cinema concert, which has gained popularity in over 10 cities around the world, including the UK and Germany, will be held in Japan.
The movie "Top Gun: Maverick" was released in Japan in May 2022 and grossed over 13.7 billion yen. It was ranked first in the foreign film category in the domestic box office rankings that year. Worldwide, it was a huge hit, grossing over $1 billion, the highest amount in Cruise's career.
When a cinema concert of the film is held at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2024, Cruise will make a surprise appearance and say, "I want to thank all the members of the orchestra for their incredible talent. I have always wanted to experience a production like this in front of a packed audience in a magnificent space like a classic film palace, with a full orchestra playing live music synchronized with the images. Thank you for making that dream come true."
The "Top Gun Maverick Cinema Concert" to be held at the Tokyo International Forum on August 14th is planned and produced by WOWOW. The matinee performance will begin at 1:30pm, and the evening performance at 6:30pm. Tickets cost 9,900 yen for S seats, 8,800 yen for A seats, and 4,900 yen for B seats. Tickets will be available for WOWOW WEB members and TBS Radio from 6pm on April 17th, and for Ticket Pia's fastest presale from 10am on April 26th.
The orchestra's conductor will be Hiroyuki Tsuji, who has also conducted "Disney on Classic" and the "GOLDEN KAMUY ORCHESTRA CONCERT 2024" orchestra concert for the anime "Golden Kamuy". No cast members are scheduled to appear on stage.
