It has been announced that the movie version of the anime "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid", based on the manga by Cool Kyou Shinja, "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Maid: The Lonely Dragon", will be released in 199 theaters. The 4DX and MX4D versions will also be released on June 27th, the same day as the regular version.
It was also announced that the movie ticket cards for the film will be sold in advance at the Pony Canyon booth at AnimeJapan 2025, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 22 and 23. The movie ticket cards will feature the first visual of Kanna, Kobayashi, and Tohru holding hands. As a purchase bonus, a clear file (5 types in total) featuring original illustrations of the deformed characters will be included.
To commemorate the release of the movie, the first season of the TV anime will be rebroadcast starting in April. It will be broadcast on ABC TV every Wednesday at 2:15 a.m. starting from April 2, on BS11 every Thursday at midnight starting from April 3, and on TOKYO MX every Sunday at midnight starting from April 6. A series of short anime called "Minidora," produced to commemorate the broadcast of the second season of the TV anime, "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S," will be released on YouTube for a limited time starting from March 14.
The movie version will be produced by Kyoto Animation, just like the TV anime, and will be directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, who directed the second season of the TV anime "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S." This will be the first time the movie version of the work has been produced.
Miss Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid began serialization in Monthly Action (Futabasha) in 2013 and is currently being serialized in Manga Action (same publisher). The story follows Tohru, a dragon girl who lives with Kobayashi, a female office worker, as a maid, as she struggles to help Kobayashi and causes all sorts of trouble. The first season of the TV anime aired from January to April 2017, and the second season aired from July to September 2021.
