The eighth episode of the drama series " Who saw the peacock dance in the jungle? " (TBS, Friday 10pm) starring Suzu Hirose will be broadcast on March 14th. Nishida Naomi plays Kyoko, wife of detective Akazawa Tadashi ( Takahiro Fujimoto) and mother of Mamoru (Kota Nomura). She is on family terms with the Yamashita family, and has doted on Komugi(Hirose) like a daughter since she was a child. On social media, there is a lot of attention being paid to the fact that "Akazawa's wife is the mastermind behind the whole thing." We asked Nishida what she keeps in mind when playing the role of Kyoko.
◇
-Was there anything you kept in mind when playing the role of Kyoko?
I was conscious of the mother in everyday life. All the characters in this film seem suspicious, so I always asked the director for advice on how to act, and I tried to portray Kyouko's kindness and be a good mother to Mamoru.
What kind of response have you received so far from the broadcasts?
In episode 3, Kyoko goes to a cafe with Komugi Mugi and eats a cat cake. Everyone was surprised by the scene, and it seemed to have a big impact. The cat cake itself was coated with solid chocolate, and it was harder than I had imagined... So, after consulting with the director, we decided to make it feel like it was being stabbed.
-Please tell us your impressions of Fujimoto-san, who plays the husband Tadashi, and Nomura-san, who plays the son Mamoru.
Fujimoto-san is a really gentle person, and he reminds me of Kuma-san. In the work, he plays characters who have stern expressions, loud voices, and sometimes even crush plastic bottles. But in everyday life, he loves to talk and is a cheerful person, so it's easy to talk to him.
Nomura-kun is a very straightforward person. It was heartwarming to see him working hard and communicating with people on set, and he felt like a relative's child. I was very happy to be able to work with him this time.
--The Akazawa family also has a cat named Kou.
I find Kou very comforting. At first, he was wary of us and the Akazawa family set, but as we continued filming, he started to feel like "I know this person" and started to rub up against us. Recently, he's become very attached to me and likes to get close to me, and his behavior is so cute that I want to take him home with me (laughs).
--You've worked with Hirose on several occasions, but what was your impression of her in this film?
She is a really reliable and wonderful person who leads the cast. I feel like I'm being sucked into Suzu-chan's acting. Even if I act differently in rehearsal and in the real thing, she senses it and responds accordingly, so it's very comfortable.
--The theme of this film is "belief," but what is important to you when believing in something?
I guess it's about believing in yourself. No matter what happens, I want to remain unshakable, and even if other people say something to me, I want to tell myself "I'm fine" every day and grow little by little. That's how I've lived my life up until now, so I think believing in yourself is the most important thing.
--Please tell us what the highlights of Episode 8 are.
At the end of episode 7, the house of Kyoichiro Awayama (Hajime Inoue) and Manoka Takabatake (Yoriko Oshima), who forged Komugi Mugi's birth certificate, caught fire. The story progresses in many ways from that fire, so I hope you will watch it.
