The comedy duo "Penalty" will make their first appearance on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast on March 13th at 1pm. The duo, who were senior and junior members of the high school soccer club, have been together for 31 years. Hide-san, who is popular for his extensive knowledge, and Wacky-san, who is known for his comical movements, reveal that the origins of their comedy can be traced back to The Drifters.
Five years ago, the duo faced a crisis when Wacky announced he was taking a break from work to undergo cancer treatment. Hide was taken aback by the sudden announcement, but was overwhelmed with emotion when he was able to return to work after a painful battle with the disease.
Through Wacky's battle with illness, they say they have both felt a renewed sense of desire to be partners and to perform on stage as comedians.
