It has been announced that the TV anime "Witch Watch," based on the popular manga by Kenta Shinohara currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will be broadcast on the MBS/TBS Sunday 5pm anime slot starting April 6th. It has also been announced that the music unit "YOASOBI" will be in charge of the opening theme "Watch me!" The second promotional video, which shows a snippet of the opening song, has been released.
The anime's key visuals have also been released, showing the witch Nico, the descendant of the demon Morihito, and the Tengu Kanshi each demonicizing their "powers," as well as Keigo and Nico putting their hands on their headphones, and the witch Nemu sporting a wistful look.
Ayase of "YOASOBI" commented, "I've been a fan of not only 'Witch Watch' but also Kenta Shinohara's work 'SKET DANCE', so I was very honored to be approached. I wrote "Watch me!", which focuses on the pure romantic feelings that Wakatsuki Nico, the main character of 'Witch Watch', has for her childhood friend Otogi Morihito. I love Nico as a character, who falls in love with Morihito, and I think that the cuteness of Nico is expressed in the song."
"Witch Watch" is a comedy manga by Shinohara, who is known for "SKET DANCE" and "Astra Lost in Space". It began serialization in February 2021 in "Weekly Shonen Jump". It depicts the cohabitation life of Wakatsuki Nico, who is training to become a witch, and her childhood friend, Otogi Morihito, a high school student with the powers of a demon. Morihito is given the mission of being a familiar who will protect Nico from a prophesied disaster, and a mysterious and difficult future begins. The anime will be directed by Ikehata Hiroshi, who has worked on "Kiratto Pri☆Chan" and other works, and will be produced by Vibrant Animation Studio, which has worked on "The Quintessential Quintuplets ∫∫". It will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons.
