A press conference for the "Marie Antoinette Style" exhibition was held in Tokyo on May 19th, and actress Ayami Nakajo, who serves as the exhibition's ambassador, made an appearance. Nakajo appeared wearing a dress inspired by Marie Antoinette's "style," showcasing her beautiful décolletage.
Nakajo herself admires Marie Antoinette, saying, "I've been greatly influenced by her, visiting the Palace of Versailles in France and watching Takarazuka's ' The Rose of Versailles'." Regarding the "style" that she values, she said, "Simply put, when I'm lost in life or worried about what to do, my theme is to take on the difficult thing in front of me in a cool way. I want to choose what I think is cool. If there's something I want to challenge myself with, I'll go for it without hesitation. It's not like I'm steeling myself, but I want to approach my work with that kind of mindset."
The exhibition "Marie Antoinette Style" will be held at the Yokohama Museum of Art (Nishi-ku, Yokohama) from August 1st to November 23rd. Approximately 200 items will be on display, including dresses, jewelry, furniture, paintings, prints, and photographs from the era of Marie Antoinette. The exhibition will introduce Antoinette's style, which has had a wide-ranging influence on fashion, design, and film from the 18th century to the present day, and will explore her personality.
The museum displays numerous items formerly owned or associated with Marie Antoinette, including a diamond believed to be part of the necklace from the "Affair of the Diamond Necklace," as well as many 18th-century artifacts that have been depicted in novels, plays, and films. It also features the guillotine allegedly used to execute the queen, and introduces the French Revolution, which transformed European history.
