The cast members who will play the heroines in the TV anime "The Strongest King, What Will He Do in His Second Life?", based on "The Beginning After the End," a fantasy reincarnation adventure by TurtleMe that began serialization in 2018 on "Tapas," one of the largest web manga platforms in the United States, have been announced. Kana Ichinose will play Tessia, an elf girl who is captured by a slave trader in the forest, and Omigawa Chiaki will play Jasmine, a silent, dual-wielding adventurer. The cast members were announced to coincide with Valentine's Day on February 14th.
Ichinose commented, "Teshia is a very cute girl with a carefree personality like a child. She is a girl who is honest about her feelings, so I was able to play her in a straightforward manner. The dubbing studio also had a very fun and peaceful atmosphere. The series will start airing in April, so time will surely fly by! I hope everyone will look forward to it."
Omigawa said, "I thought she was so cute from the audition onwards, so I am very happy to have the opportunity to play Jasmine. I put my heart into the role so that I could convey Jasmine's cuteness and loyalty to everyone. There is still some time until the broadcast, so please look forward to it. Until then, please review and study the original work."
The anime's official Twitter account will be running a giveaway campaign. Titled "This year's Valentine's Chocolate is 'Two-time Chocolate'!", three people will be chosen at random to win a set of autographed colored paper by Ichinose and Omigawa, as well as an original chocolate.
The story follows the "second life" of the strongest king in history, Gray, who is suddenly reincarnated one morning into the magical world as a powerless baby named Arthur, and struggles to grow up despite the love and affection of his family and friends. In Japan, the series began serialization in 2020 on the web manga service Piccoma under the title "What Will the Strongest King Do in His Second Life?", and in about a year it has garnered over 20 million hearts (likes). It is also popular in China and Korea, and has been viewed over 150 million times worldwide.
The anime will be directed by Keitaro Motonaga and produced by studio A-CAT. Natsumi Fujiwara will play Arthur, the main character who is living his "second life," and Makoto Furukawa will play Gray, Arthur's previous life as the strongest king. It will be broadcast on Fuji TV's late-night anime slot "+Ultra" from April.
