It was revealed on February 13th that the novel "Kakushigoto" by Yoru Sumino, author of "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas", will be adapted into a film, with Daiken Okudaira and Natsuki Deguchi playing the dual leading roles. The film will also star Ae! group's Sano Shoya, Kikuchi Hinako and Hayase Iku. It is due to be released on May 30th.
The film is a youth love story depicting the precious days of five men and women who "can see people's feelings a little." Okudaira plays Kyo, the shy and self-confident protagonist, Deguchi plays Miki Naoko (aka Mickey), a boundlessly cheerful girl who wants to be a hero rather than a heroine, Sano plays Takasaki Hirofumi (aka Tsuka), a popular sports fan who is always cheerful and smiling, Kikuchi plays Kuroda Aya (aka Para), who is unpredictable in her words and actions and always goes at her own pace, and Hayase plays Miyazato Nozomi (aka L), a shy and reserved girl who suddenly stops coming to school one day.
Director Nakagawa Shun, who directed the film, commented, "When I first read the original work, I felt that it was a work that would make you realize very important things about living in the current era. I worked carefully with the cast and staff to express that important message in the film, while also not damaging Sumino's world. I would be happy if the younger generation enjoys this film."
Sumino, the original author of the original work, said, "I haven't seen the finished film yet, but I'm actually really looking forward to it. This project has taken about six years to get to this point, even through the COVID-19 pandemic. It took a long time, but there are directors, actors, and staff members that I would never have met if we hadn't taken that time. I have done all I could to make now the best possible time. I would appreciate your support."
A teaser Teaser trailer was also released, in which a shy high school student, Kyo (Okudaira), keeps thinking about Mickey (Deguchi), a popular boy in his class, but by being able to "see feelings," he is frustrated by the feelings he cannot put into words.
