It has been announced that visitors to the new animated film "The Rose of The Rose of Versailles" (directed by Ai Yoshimura , opening January 31st), based on the masterpiece manga by Riyoko Ikeda , will be given a free gift of a reproduction of an original drawing of a famous scene by the original author Ikeda. The first reproduction will be of " Oscar in a Once in a Lifetime Dress" from January 31st, and the second will be of "Antoinette and Fersen's Loving Embrace" from February 8th. The reproduction will be enclosed in a manuscript envelope autographed by Ikeda, giving visitors the special feeling of receiving the manuscript from the time.
The music video "Andre's Life at Risk PV" featuring Andre Grandier has been released on YouTube. The video starts with a scene from his childhood, when Andre tells Oscar, who he grew up with like a sibling while serving the Jarjayes family, "I'm always with you," and depicts Andre's constant support for Oscar .
It was also announced that "Extra editions of The Rose of Versailles " will be distributed on the streets on January 30th and 31st. The magazine will feature the preview screening held in December 2024, which attracted much attention as the original author Ikeda made a surprise appearance, as well as an interview with Kuroki Hitomi, a huge fan of The Rose of Versailles who volunteered to take part in the film and who is in charge of narration. The magazine will be distributed around Shinjuku Station and Yurakucho Station in Tokyo, and around Umeda Station in Osaka. On January 31st, cosplayers dressed as Oscar and Marie Antoinette will appear in front of the Yurakucho Denki Building in Tokyo to distribute the extra editions.
To commemorate the release, a screening with stage greetings will be held at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya in Tokyo on February 2nd. Miyuki Sawashiro , who plays Oscar , Aya Hirano , who plays Marie Antoinette , Toshiyuki Toyonaga, who plays Andre, Kazuki Kato, who plays Fersen, and Kuroki will be on stage.
"The Rose of Versailles" is a masterpiece manga by Ikeda that was serialized in "Weekly Margaret" (Shueisha) from 1972 to 1973. It is a beautiful depiction of the love and life of Oscar, a beautiful Oscar who dresses as a man, and Marie Antoinette, an innocent queen who came to France from neighboring Austria during the French Revolution in the late 18th century.
The movie will be directed by Yoshimura, known for "Ao Haru Ride" and "Cheer Boys!! ". Hiroyuki Sawano , known for " Attack on Titan ", will be the music producer, and Sawano and KOHTA YAMAMOTO will be in charge of the music. It will be produced by MAPPA, known for " Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Chainsaw Man".
