It has been announced that actress Riho Sayashi will appear in the NHK special drama "Murder Without Memory," co-starring Kaoru Kobayashi and Machiko Ono. The drama is a human mystery about a former police officer with dementia who is suspected of being the culprit of a murder case and struggles to find the truth. Sayashi will play the role of Sanae Okuda, a former underground idol.
Sanae moves to Tokyo in the hopes of becoming an idol. Saji Hideo (Kobayashi), a police officer at the local police box, arrests a man who has been stalking Sanae, but after Saji retires, the man reappears and relentlessly stalks Sanae... In addition to Sayashi, it has been announced that Jun Hashimoto will play the role of Narazaki Yasuhide, a local private doctor, Matsuzawa Takumi will play the role of Inaoka Yuya, and Nakagoshi Noriko will play Saji's daughter Hanasumi, and Tsutsui Mariko will play Saji's wife Ayuko.
In the drama, Saji (Kobayashi), who worked at a police station in the suburbs of Tokyo, retired 10 years ago and still lives in the same neighborhood. One day, a detective in charge of a murder case that occurred in the neighborhood, Kitamine Ayumi (Ono), visits Saji to investigate. The victim of the case was a man whom Saji had arrested for stalking a young woman, but after serving his sentence, he attacked and injured the same woman. Saji still deeply regrets this and wishes he had been more careful. As the investigation into the case progresses, Kitamine comes across physical evidence that suggests Saji is the culprit, and since Saji himself suffers from dementia, he begins to suspect that he may be the culprit... The screenplay is by Omori Mika.
It will be broadcast on NHK General TV from 9pm on February 22nd. There will also be an advance broadcast on BS Premium 4K from 9pm on January 25th.
