Rurouni Kenshin:Junichi Suwabe will play Usui in "The Ten Swords," while Junichi Suwabe Ayumu Murase play Kamatari. Bin Shimada and Gakuto Kajiwara will also appear in the new OP.

Additional cast members have been announced to play the Kyoto Disturbance , the special attack unit of Shishio's faction that appears in the second season of " Rurouni Kenshin : Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story ," a new TV anime based on the popular manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki . The cast members are Junichi Suwabe as Usui, Ayumu Murase as Honjo Kamatari, Satoshi Shimada as Saizuchi, and Gakuto Kajiwara as Fuji. The announcement was made at the "Jump Festa 2025" event being held at Makuhari Messe (Mihama Ward, Chiba City).

It was revealed that Ryota Osaka will play the role of Kariwa Keiya and Takumi Yamazaki will play the role of Iwambo in the 36th episode, which will be broadcast on December 19th. The full cast of the Ten Swords was announced at the event. A story visual featuring Shishio Makoto, Yumi Komagata, and the Ten Swords was also released.

It was also announced that singers yama and WurtS will be in charge of the opening theme "BURN" for the second season of the series. A new PV was released, showcasing the song. The second season will begin airing on January 9, 2025. In the second season, the Ten Swords gather in Kyoto, and a fierce battle begins.

Suwabe, who plays Uonuma Usui, said, "It goes without saying that this is a very popular series! I was aware that the anime was being produced again in the Reiwa era, but I never imagined that this connection would come about! I am very happy to be involved." He continued, "Among the eccentric characters of the Ten Swords, Usui is well known for his sadism. I will do my best to properly express the madness that exudes and what he hides in his heart."

Murase, who plays Honjo Kamatari, expressed his joy at the role, saying, "When I was in elementary school, I was so fascinated by this work that I would often walk home in shikuji with an umbrella in my hand (laughs). When I heard about the audition this time, I read the original work again, and I was able to reaffirm the energy and excitement of the work. This is what they mean by a timeless masterpiece! I was incredibly happy to be able to be involved in such a memorable, timeless, wonderful work."

Regarding Kamatari, he said, "I think he's basically a mood maker, and is naturally attentive without even realizing it. He usually presents an elusive, natural presence, but deep in his heart he is a warrior who lives with great feelings: loyalty, love, admiration for Shishio-sama...he is taking on the challenge for Shishio-sama, so I hope you all look forward to it."

Osaka, who plays Kariwa Keiya, commented, "It feels strange to be able to appear in a production that I watched as a child, but I'm very happy. However, there is also a lot of pressure, and I'm excited because I'll be tested in new ways. I'll try to keep up with the other cast members so that I don't lose out. At the time, the role was played by Takemoto Eiji, so when I happened to meet him, I told him, and he kindly gave me words of encouragement. I hope I can deliver a new Keiya with Takemoto's feelings in mind."

Yamazaki, who plays Ebiwanbou, said, "Umm... it's 'Gufu.' When I went to pick up the script for the episode where he first appears, I had a conversation with sound director Naya, who happened to be at his desk... 'I don't speak Japanese!' I was like, 'Huh???' -- you can imagine... the bar for acting became higher." He added, "There are variations of 'Gufu' in the script! 'Gufu,' 'Gufu (heart),' 'Gufu♪,' 'Gufu?' 'Gufu!' ... etc. It's fun to think about what kind of 'Gufu' this one is??? -- Oh! Please don't just extract the 'Gufu' and compare the different ones (laughs)."

"Rurouni Kenshin" is a popular manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1994 to 1999. It depicts Himura Kenshin, who was feared as the assassin Battousai during the late Edo period, as he becomes a wanderer who has sworn not to kill after the Meiji Restoration and searches for a way to live in a new era. A new chapter, "Rurouni Kenshin : Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story Hokkaido Arc", has been serialized in the monthly manga magazine "Jump SQ." (Shueisha) since 2017.

The new anime will be fully supervised by the original author, Watsuki, from character design to the scenario, and will reconstruct the original work from the first episode. The first season aired from July to December 2023. The second season is currently airing on Fuji TV's late-night anime slot "Noitamina" and elsewhere.
