Actor Aju Makita will appear in the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Mikami Sensei" (Sundays at 9pm) starring Tori Matsuzaka, which will be broadcast in January 2025. She will play Tominaga Aoi, a student in class 3-2, who will become the homeroom teacher of the main character Takashi Mikami (Matsuzaka) at the private high school where he is assigned under the government dispatch system. Makita said with enthusiasm, "I will do my best to act in a way that will move the hearts of everyone who watches, even just a little."
"Mikami Sensei" is an original school drama written by Shimori Roba, who has been a major figure in the theater world, including receiving the Outstanding Director Award at the 28th Yomiuri Theater Awards. The story revolves around the "school" where children live and the "ministry" where adults struggle. This is a story of a major reversal in education revival, depicting the reality that children who dream of the future are sacrificed by the power of corrupt adults, and the story of a bureaucratic teacher and high school students in the Reiwa era who stand up against such a reality.
Tominaga Sou, played by Makita, is a bright, free-spirited, easy-going character who doesn't worry about small things. He is childhood friends with Kanzaki Takuto, played by Okudaira Daiken, and is somewhat worried about the dangerous Kanzaki.
Makita revealed her impression of the role, saying, "When I read the script, I was really excited to be able to take part in such a challenging and new production. Tominaga is a character I have never played before. He is a strong and kind student who is the first to raise his hand to solve any problem and subtly guides his classmates so that they move in the right direction."
In addition to Makita and Okudaira, the cast of students from class 3-2 has also been announced, including Airu Kubozuka, Sakura Kiryu, Juri Kamisaka, and Akari Takaishi.
