The movie "Doctor-X: Surgeon Daimon Michiko," starring Yonekura Ryoko, which has been broadcast on TV Asahi since 2012, was released on December 6th. The movie "Doctor-X: Final" (directed by Tamura Naoki) attracted 441,421 viewers in the first three days and grossed approximately 603.8 million yen, making it the number one live-action movie (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha, December 6th to 8th).
In terms of the results from the first three days, it was the third highest out of the more than 1,200 live-action films released in Japan this year, after "Kingdom: The Return of the General" and "The Last Mile." The film is expected to surpass 3 billion yen in box office revenue, proving that the catchphrase of the main character, Daimon Michiko (Yonekura), "I will not fail," is still alive and well in the movies.
This was the first film adaptation of the series by screenwriter Miho Nakazono and director Naoki Tamura, who have been leading "Doctor X" for 12 years, and it was the final installment. The story reveals the "secret of Daimon Michiko's birth," and brings together familiar cast members from the drama series. Other cast members who appeared in the film version included Shota Sometani, Daigo Nishihata from "Naniwa Danshi," and Go Ayano. It was also the final work of Toshiyuki Nishida, who passed away in October.
