The synopsis for the 9th episode of the TV drama "Monster" (Kantele/Fuji TV, Mondays at 10pm), starring actress Shuri, which will air on December 9th, has been released.
"Monster" is a unique legal entertainment story in which Shuri, who plays the lead role in her first primetime drama series, plays the mysterious monster lawyer Ryoko Kannami, who is not bound by "common sense" and faces her opponents by "removing emotions". She faces various problems unique to the Reiwa era, where the law sometimes does not keep up, and faces court battles as if it were a game. The script is written by Atsuko Hashibe, who wrote the "Boku Series Trilogy" including "Boku no Ikiru Michi" (Kantele/Fuji TV).
In episode 9, Ryoko (Shuri), who is curious about the connection between the arrested King of the illegal part-time job organization and her father, Tsuburai (Furuta Arata), takes a day off from work and heads to a museum in the countryside. There, a "cursed painting" that once caused a stir in the world is on display, and a man (Kondo Yoshimasa) is sitting in front of the painting, whose artist and title are unknown.
According to the man, this mysterious painting X was found 23 years ago as a series of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers," and while it was being touted as the greatest discovery of the century, Daisuke Narusawa (Keisuke Watanabe), who was then an IT tycoon, bought it from Yoichiro Okamura (Riku Matsuda) for 14 billion yen, the highest price ever. However, after a while, people started to suspect that it was a fake, and Narusawa became suspicious of Okamura, who stubbornly refused to reveal how he had acquired the painting, and filed a lawsuit.
At the same time, at the Okusa Keiko Law Office, Sugiura (Jesse from SixTONES) was reading a case file that had been left on Ryoko's desk. It contained the story that Ryoko had just heard from the man at the museum. According to the director, Keiko (YOU), Okamura, who had been sued, had initially asked Keiko to represent him, but Keiko, who had just opened her own practice and was overwhelmed, entrusted the case to her former colleague, Kannami Haruaki, or Tsuburai. And so, on the day that Tsuburai and Okamura first met at Keiko's office, Ryoko, who was 7 years old at the time, was in a corner of the room... and so on and so forth.
Watanabe, who plays IT tycoon Narusawa, reflected on episode 9, saying, "Personally, this was the episode where I felt a strong bond between father and son. As a viewer, I was grinning and enjoying the filming, thinking, 'I see.'" Kondo, who plays the mysterious museum director, said, "Shuri and I were together all the time during 'Boogie Woogie,' so it was fun to work together again after a long time, but also a little embarrassed because we were playing different roles, so it was a bit of a strange feeling."
Maeda Atsuko, who plays Yokozawa Sakura, a pregnant woman who suddenly comes from Gunma to visit Ryoko in the second half of episode 9, said she has been watching the drama since the first episode, and said, "I feel relieved when I see how Dr. Kannami solves the problem so easily."
