On December 10th, it was announced that Motoki Omori, vocalist of the three-member rock band "Mrs. GREEN APPLE," will be making his first film appearance and first leading role in the movie "#TruthIsHere" (directed by Keisuke Toyoshima), which will be released on April 25th, 2025. He will co-star with Fuma Kikuchi of the popular group "timelesz," and this will also be Kikuchi's first leading role in a film.
The original work is a short story collection of the same name by Shinichiro Yuki, which contains five stories that combine the "now" of modern Japan with mystery techniques, depicting "something strange" lurking in everyday life. Kikuchi plays Kiriyama, a security guard who has closed his heart after a certain incident, and Omori plays Suzuki, a mysterious man who is beside him.
In the teaser visual, Omori and Kikuchi are facing forward with serious expressions. In the teaser video released at the same time, Suzuki is seen in a dark and suspicious security room, with the corners of his mouth turning up meaningfully, and Kiriyama is seen praying for something.
◇Comment from Motoki Omori
When I was asked to appear in the film, my honest reaction was surprise and "why me?" At first I was hesitant because it was a different field, but after reading the script I thought I might be able to help. The story progresses like a rollercoaster, so I was captivated and kept reading. It was my first time filming a movie so I was nervous at first, but Fuma-kun welcomed me warmly and it was very reassuring. He was like a kind older brother. There are still many things I can't say, but I hope you will go see it at the cinema. You have to see "#TheTruth" at the cinema (laughs).
◇Comment from Fuma Kikuchi
I was surprised to hear that I was offered the lead role in this film. And I was especially looking forward to acting with Omori. I heard that Omori has little acting experience, but it almost seems like a lie. It was wonderful to feel that he was so calm and composed that I felt like I could rely on him. The script is unpredictable, and the more you read it the deeper the mystery becomes, until all the loose ends are resolved at the end. I thought it was an interesting film with a balance of satisfying parts and parts that leave you feeling a bit unsettled. I think the combination of Omori and I is unique, and the story is full of mysteries, so I hope that you will go to the cinema to see it and solve the mysteries, and go home feeling like "Que sera sera" (laughs).
◇Comment from Director Keisuke Toyoshima
This film is based on Shinichiro Yuki's original work, which is packed with mysteries and plot twists, and is completed with special features that only a film can have. Before arriving at the real "truth," we have set up a number of "unusual" elements. We are proud to say that this film is an unprecedented one, offering a thrilling "reflective film experience" that will leave you wondering who and what to believe until the very end!
I was amazed by Omori Motoki-kun, who is making his first film appearance. We can have passionate discussions about acting, and he offers many different ideas. Moreover, his acting is both natural and insane. I almost said to him several times, "Are you a veteran actor with a unique style?" And then there's Kikuchi Fuma-kun, who I've worked with on many productions and who I could call a comrade in arms. This time, he played a more jaded character than he's ever played before, and I asked him to act in an extreme situation that he's never acted in before, but he showed me a new level that even surprised me, saying, "Fuma, you can make a face like that!" The two of them play a tense and stinging performance that reaches an incredible level at the end. Please look forward to what kind of "truth" awaits!
◇Comment from the original author, Shinichiro Yuki
It has always been my dream to be listed as the "original author" in the end credits of a movie. I am truly happy that this dream has come true so soon with such a great co-starring cast. Novels often advertise themselves as "unfilmable," but I have always thought of "#I'llTellYouTheTruth" as a work that is "unfathomable in film form."
How can a collection of short stories, each of which is a separate and unrelated story, be made into a single film? Also, what kind of characters will Omori and Kikuchi play? Please come to the theater and see for yourself the truth.
◇Comment from Producer Takashi Hirano
I worked with Omori on "Blue and Summer," "Song of Tensho," and "Soranji," which he wrote for the film, and I've come to feel that he's a charming trickster over the seven years we've been in contact with him. As the protagonist Suzuki of this film became a fascinating character in the script, Omori's face frequently came to mind, and at the same time, I was thrilled by the great chemistry we had with the film.
The other main character, Kiriyama, is a very human, and in a way, pathetic man. I felt that if this role was played by Kikuchi, a top idol who is always challenging himself with new things, the movie would be very endearing. Please look forward to the "naive explosion" of these two!
