The Yahoo! Search Awards 2024, which ranks people, works, and products that have seen a sudden increase in search numbers in 2024 compared to the previous year, were announced on December 4th, and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball won the Grand Prize and first place in the Athlete Division for the second consecutive year.
The top actor award went to Yuumi Kawai, who has appeared in popular dramas such as "Inappropriately Too Much!" and the movie "The Desert of Namibia." She was followed by Choi Jung-hyup, Natsuki Deguchi, Ryuya Wakaba, and Wakana Matsumoto.
Coming in first in the musician category was Number_i, who debuted with the digital single "GOAT" on January 1. Ranking second and below were Mrs. Green Apple, NewJeans, WEST., and ME:I.
Yasuko-san ranked first in the comedian category. This year, she has appeared on many variety shows and commercials, which has led to an increase in search results, and she even took on the challenge of running a marathon during "24 Hour TV." She was followed by Hyoroku-san, Aoki Macho, "Gakutensoku," and Hariurisa.
The top ranking in the voice actor category was Kikuchi Kokoro, who became the second voice actress for the main character, Maruko, in the anime series "Chibi Maruko-chan." Other names included Kenjiro Tsuda, Mayumi Tanaka Tanaka, Sayuri Date, and Yuka Iguchi.
In the "Special Category" for people who were active in other categories this year, former TV Tokyo announcer Mori Kasumi took first place. Nicknamed the "Reiwa Azato Queen," she has appeared in numerous variety shows and TV dramas, leading to an increase in search results. Ranking second and below were former AKB48 member Fukudome Mitsuho, former HKT48 member Murashige Anna, professional wrestler Dump Matsumoto, and model Suzuki Emi.
Following Shohei Ohtani in the athlete category are volleyball player Ai Takahashi, sumo wrestler Takanashi Fuji, and judokas Hifumi Abe and Natsumi Tsunoda.
In the "Works Category" "Mashle" took first place in the anime category, "Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump" took first place in the film category, "Yakuza 8" took first place in the game category, NHK's morning drama series "The Tiger and Her Wings" took first place in the drama category, and Creepy Nuts' song "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" took first place in the music category.
