It has been announced that the TV anime "Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru!" (There Are Holes Even in the Student Council!), based on the slice-of-life four-panel manga by Muchimaro currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), will begin airing in October. It was also announced that Shogo Sakata will be appearing as Ume Mizunoe, a first-year high school student and student council secretary.
Sakata commented, "I've been reading the series since the first volume was published, and as a fan, I've enjoyed Muchimaro-sensei's hilarious sense of humor, the occasional heartwarming scenes, and the rare occurrence of the sensei's X account being frozen. I was so happy to be able to take on this role. Mizunoe Ume is such a literary boy that he initially stands out a bit from those around him, but as he interacts with everyone in the student council, he grows, learns about human warmth, and eventually transforms into a tsukkomi monster. I'm putting everything I have into the tsukkomi role in the voice recording. I hope you enjoy it."
"There are holes in the student council too!" began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" in April 2022. The story follows Mizunoe Ume, a first-year student at Fujinari Private High School. While her grades in Japanese are outstanding, her science subjects are disastrous, jeopardizing her chances of advancing to the next grade. To improve her grades, she becomes an officer in the student council, but she finds herself surrounded by a charismatic but secretive guy, a scary but kind and pure treasurer, a cheeky but cute boy, a tiny stray cat general affairs officer, and other slightly eccentric people, leading to chaotic daily life... The manga also gained attention for being selected as the number one manga in the comics category of the "Next Manga Award 2023". The cumulative circulation of the comics exceeds 2.3 million copies.
The anime will be directed by Naoyuki Tatsumi, with character designs by Ryo Imamura and series composition and script by Masahiro Yokotani. It will be produced by Passione.
