It has been revealed that a completely new theatrical anime film, "LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE" (tentative title), based on the popular anime "Lupin III", based on the manga by the late Monkey Punch, will be produced and released in 2025. The new film will be the first 2D theatrical anime in about 30 years since "Lupin III: Dead or Alive" (1996), which was the first directed by Monkey Punch, and will be directed by Koike Takeshi, who has worked on the "LUPIN THE IIIRD" series. The catchphrase for the new film is "You don't know the real Lupin yet", and it will depict the "ultimate" Lupin III, which is the new and original. A trailer featuring Lupin III, Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa, Fujiko Mine, and Inspector Zenigata was released on YouTube. The screenplay will be written by Yuya Takahashi, the music will be composed by James Shimoji, and the animation will be produced by Telecom Animation Film. Katsuhito Ishii will participate as a creative advisor. The voice actors who will appear are Kanichi Kurita as Lupin III, Akio Otsuka as Daisuke Jigen, Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa, Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine, and Koichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata. To commemorate the decision to release the new movie, a long version of the special trailer for the new movie will be screened after the regular version of "Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro," which began its revival screening on November 29th. "Lupin III" was broadcast on TV from 1971 to 1972 as "PART 1," 1977 to 1980 as "PART 2," 1984 to 1985 as "PART 4," 2015 to 2016 as "PART 5," 2018 as "PART 6," and 2021 to 2022 as "PART 5." The first theatrical release in about 23 years, "Lupin the Third: The First," the series' first 3DCG animation, was released in 2019. A new anime, "LUPIN ZERO," depicting Lupin the Third's childhood, was released in 2022. The anime "Lupin the Third vs. Cat's Eye," a collaboration between "Lupin the Third" and the anime "Cat's Eye," based on Hojo Tsukasa's manga, was released in 2023 and also attracted attention. A live-action film starring actor Oguri Shun was released in 2014.
