18 new stills have been released for the movie "Doctor X: The Movie" (directed by Tamura Naoki, to be released on December 6th), starring actress Yonekura Ryoko. They include the main character Daimon Michiko (Yonekura) shedding big tears, the customary scene where Kanbara Akira (Kishibe Ittoku) hands over a melon along with a bill, and Jonouchi Hiromi (Uchida Yuki) and others enjoying mahjong at the Kanbara Specialist Referral Center. There is also a shot of Hiruma Shigekatsu, played by Nishida Toshiyuki, who passed away on October 17th.
The movie is the final installment of the TV drama series "Doctor X: Surgeon Daimon Michiko", which began airing on TV Asahi in 2012. The story uncovers the "secret of the birth" of the lone freelance surgeon Daimon Michiko, and brings together the familiar cast from the drama series. New cast members Sometani Shota, Nishihata Daigo from "Naniwa Danshi", and Ayano Go have also been announced.
The cast of the new cast members Yagi Rikako, Ito Shiro, and Taguchi Tomorowo was also announced. Yagi will play Daimon Michiko as a medical student. Ito, who will be appearing for the first time since the third series of the drama (2014), will reprise the role of Busujima Ryunosuke, who was the hospital director before Hiruma Shigekatsu and was well-liked by viewers.
Taguchi, who has been the narrator since the first series of the drama, will make his long-awaited appearance in the drama as this is the final installment. He will play Shindo Yusuke, the doctor in charge of Kozu Takato (Sometani), who has a congenital heart condition. Taguchi commented, "I narrated all the series from the first series in 2012 to the seventh series. I always worked alone in the recording room, but this time I'm stepping out of the recording room and appearing. I'm very honored to have been able to appear in the final movie."
