The drama series "Tamiou R Inspired by Ikeido Jun" starring actor Endo Kenichi (TV Asahi, Tuesdays 9pm) will begin on October 22nd. It is a sequel to "Tamiou" which aired in July 2015. The previous series, which was a dramatization of Ikeido Jun's novel of the same name, became a hot topic for its cynical and sometimes heartwarming portrayal of the unprecedented incident in which the minds and bodies of Prime Minister Muto Taizan (Endo) and his foolish son (Suda Masaki) are swapped. The new series, inspired by Ikeido's novel, is an even more fantastical story in which Taizan, who has been approached by the Prime Minister again, randomly swaps places with a citizen in each episode. The first episode will be an extended special and will air from 9pm to 10pm.
New cast members include Naniwa Danshi's Ohashi Kazuya, Ano, Yamatoki Satoshi, Mitsushima Shinnosuke, Mizobata Junpei, and Kishibe Ittoku. Yamauchi Keiya, Kaneda Akio, and Minemura Rie will continue to play their roles from the previous series.
In the first episode... Taizan served as Prime Minister nine years ago, but is now nearing retirement from politics. He was leading a leisurely life as a politician, with a sauna association, a sushi association, and a dessert association... when he receives a call from Futaki Shoichi (Kishibe), leader of the largest faction in the Democratic Party. He is ordered to take up the position of Prime Minister again to save the party, which has its lowest approval rating in history and is in a difficult position due to a parade of scandals.
Although he initially refuses, he is persuaded by Futaki to accept the position of Prime Minister "for the time being." Together with Kariya Takashi (Kaneda), who is happy to be Chief Cabinet Secretary again, and his clerk Tanakamaru Ichirota (Ohashi), Taizan begins searching for a new public first secretary, but Saejima Yuka (Ano), who is recommended by his previous secretary Kaibara Mohei (Takahashi Issei), arrives.
Yuka, who is said to be an outstanding student from the Narita Educational Foundation, immediately proposes a cabinet proposal for the Muto Cabinet. Taizan is impressed by her innovative proposal that is not bound by political ties, but in the end he is forced to make personnel decisions that reflect Niki's wishes.
The next day, Taizan, who was appearing on a live broadcast with political commentator Hasunuma Kiyohiko (Mitsushima), is struck by a severe headache and falls unconscious.
When Taizan wakes up, he realizes that he has switched bodies for the first time in nine years. Nitta Osamu (Yamauchi) and Nekoda Mamoru (Yamatoki) of the Metropolitan Police Department's Public Security Bureau appear and inform him that this body switch was the result of hacking by a certain country...
