A video commemorating the 40th anniversary of Square Enix's popular RPG "Dragon Quest" was released on May 27th, revealing that the development of the latest installment, "Dragon Quest XII," has been restarted with a changed development system, and that the subtitle has also been changed from "The Flame of Chosen Destiny" to "Beyond the Dream."
The video features Yuji Horii, the creator of the series, and executive producer Yosuke Saito. Because it's a restart, they stated that they would "please wait a little longer" regarding the release date.
They also announced the latest installment in the "Dragon Quest Monsters" series, "Dragon Quest Monsters 4: Bianca & Flora of the Land of Withered Trees." The game features Bianca and Flora from "Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride" as the main characters, and follows the two girls as they connect with monsters and embark on a new adventure. It will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Microsoft Store on Windows, and Horii commented, "I think this one will probably come out first."
