Mizuho Kusanagi's popular manga "Akatsuki no Yona," which was also adapted into a TV anime, reached its final chapter in the second issue of 2026 of the serialized magazine "Hana to Yume to Yume" (Hakusensha), released on December 19th, bringing the curtain down on its 16-year serialization. In the same issue, it was also announced that a sequel anime to "Akatsuki no Yona" would be produced. The TV anime aired from October 2014 to March 2015.
"Akatsuki no Yona" is a turbulent, epic fantasy romance that began serialization in the magazine in 2009. Set in the Kouka Kingdom, which is said to have been founded by a dragon that descended from heaven, the story follows Princess Yona, whose father was killed in a rebellion by her cousin who is plotting to take the throne, as she journeys with her childhood friend and bodyguard, Hak, and confronts her destiny. In addition to being adapted into a TV anime, it has also been adapted into a stage play.
The issue will come with an acrylic stand of Yona and Hak as a bonus. Issue 6 of 2026, which will be released on February 20, 2026, will feature a bonus story and will also come with a bonus.
