It has been announced that a completely new anime series, "Prism Rondo," based on the original story, character designs, and script by manga artist Yoko Kamio, known for the popular manga "Boys Over Flowers," will be produced and will be streamed worldwide exclusively on Netflix from January 15, 2026. Set in London in the early 1900s, the story is about a youthful love affair between an aristocrat and a foreign student, and will be directed by Kazuto Nakazawa, known for "B: The Beginning," and produced by WIT STUDIO. The band "Chilli Beans." will perform the theme song, "star flower."
The cast has also been announced, with Atsumi Tanezaki playing the protagonist, Riri Koki Uchiyama playing Kit Church, a gifted art student from a wealthy family. The cast also includes Akari Kito as Yuki Kaji , a Japanese exchange student, Akari Kito as Sakura Kobayakawa, Megumi Han Han as Dorothy Brown, Riri's boarding house mate, Yohei Azakami Azagami as Geoffrey O'Brien, Shogo Sakata as Peter Anthony, Sumire Uesaka as Catherine Astor, Kit's fiancée, Yoshitada Otsuka as Charles Brant, a professor at the academy, Yuko Kaida as Take Junichi Suwabe as Richard Church, Kit's brother.
Kamio commented, "This is a story about the main character, Riri, running through the ages with love, courage, and romance. In a world where it has become difficult to speak of dreams and hopes, and where ordinary everyday life is no longer taken for granted, I hope this work will be a ray of light for those who watch it. We all created this work with our wishes in mind. There are 20 episodes in total, and each one sparkles like a jewel, and so much thought has been put into "Prism Rondo." Please enjoy it on Netflix!"
Key art and a trailer showing characters such as Riri and Kit standing in the streets of London have been released.
