Manga artist Yano Ren, who was selected for the 88th Chiba Tetsuya Award Young Artist Category Outstanding Newcomer Award, will start a new series called "Usagi Runaway" in the 51st issue of the manga magazine "Young Magazine" (Kodansha), which will be released on November 17th.
The new series is an ensemble track and field drama about a girl who is overwhelmed by reality and her coach whose dreams are shattered. After losing her parents, Makio Usagi, a middle school girl who is left all alone, is desperately running away from the yakuza, debts, and everything else around her when she is saved by Okamizuka, an athletics coach. Okamizuka sees Usagi's talent as an athlete in her sprinting, and tells her, "Athletics is about embracing those who run away," so Usagi decides to escape into the competitive world of athletics under his guidance in order to survive.
