The 67th The Japan Record Awards was broadcast live on TBS from the New National Theatre (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) on December 30th, and social media was abuzz with excitement over Kamenashi Kazuya's appearance.
Kamenashi participated in the album "THE SHOW MAN" by Rockon Social Club (RSC), a group formed mainly by former members of Otokogumi. As the album won a planning award, he sang "Tame no Ongaeshi" (The Kame's Return of Favor), a track from the album credited to Kamenashi Kazuya & Rockon Social Club. Dressed in a matching group sounds-style outfit with RSC, Kamenashi beamed and said, "It's an honor, and I never thought I'd be able to stand on the same stage as my seniors."
This was Kamenashi's first appearance at the Japan Record Awards in six years since 2019 and his first since establishing his own agency, and people on social media were expressing their admiration, saying things like, "I just love Kamenashi-kun when he sings," and "It's amazing to see Kamenashi-kun singing with the members of Otokogumi."
